Robson Mining World
Robson’s Mining World is one of those off the beaten path locations that everyone should visit. It is located at the site of the Nella-Meda Gold Mining Camp in the foothills of of the mountains north of Aquilla, AZ.
The town is a monument to the life’s work of Charles and Jeni Robson. Charles and Jeni purchased there mine in 1979 with the vision of bringing the town back to life and highlight Arizona’s rich mining history. They restored 14 of the original buildings, moved old buildings from other locations and built new ones. Charles was an antique dealer and would keep unique items he came across. Over the years he collected a massive amount of items which are displayed throughout the buildings.
We plan on meeting at Robson Mining World at about 3 PM.
Please feel free to photograph anything in the town, keeping in mind that there are private residences in a few locations on the property which should be respected as such.
There is a $25 fee, payable in CASH ONLY, due on your arrival. We plan on making this a late afternoon/evening outing as the afternoon light is very nice on the old buildings and light painting can be interesting after dark.
Be advised there is no place to eat here so bring your own food and water if you plan on staying into the evening.
There are two ways to go to get to Robson Mining World. They are both through Wickenburg
1. From Wickenburg, take US 60 West approximately 25 Miles until you get to AZ State Route 71. Turn right and go north about a mile looking for a sign on a pole on the left side of the road at about mile marker 1. Turn left there going on the dirt road through the fence and following the most trafficked road until you arrive at the town, approximately 1 mile in.
2. From Wickenburg go north on US 93 about 17 miles until you get to AZ State Route 71, go left, west, until you see that same sign at approximately mile marker 1 and follow the same directions as above.
Please be aware that the road is usually pretty good, but take your time and keep an eye out for dips and ruts as there may be a spot or two where you need to go slower.
